Lakeside Masters   

The Lakeside Masters swim team was founded in 1976. It provides training and competition for adult swimmers aged 19 and above. A certified USMS competitive team, Lakeside Masters has won 5 National Championship titles. Several team members are currently ranked in the National Top Ten.

7-1-06 The Long Course Mini Meet will be held at Lakeside July 9th at 8:30am.  Because this is a SKY meet, the 800 free relays will need to be setup before the day of the meet.  Please get your entries in before Friday, July 7th.  Entry sheets can be found under Competition and Upcoming Meets.

5-26-06 We will be returning to the Lake for our Summer season this Sunday.  We will be working our normal 8am and 9:30am practices.

4-15-06 Change over schedule has been finalized.  From April 17 thru May 4th, we will be swimming at St Xavier High School at our normal times. On Sundays, will be swimming at Mary T Meagher Natatorium at 8:30am.  Starting May 8th, we will be swimming Long Course at UofL Natatorium during the week.  We will be swimming our regular schedule during this time.

1-20-06 A Short Course Yards meet has been scheduled at the new UofL Natatorium.  The Cardinal Invitation will be held on Sunday, February 26th.  The 800 yd free relay will be held at this meet.  There will be no SCY Mini this year.  Meet information can be found under Competition and Upcoming Meets.

10-1-05  Meet information for all of our Fall meets is now posted under competition, upcoming meets.  A new meet to be held at the new University of Louisville Natatorium is schedule for November 5-6.

9-2-05  Practice will finish at Lakeside on Monday with an 8:00am holiday practice.  We will start practice at St Xavier High School on Tuesday, 9-6 and at MTM on Sunday, 9-11

7-10-05  Thirty Lakeside Masters competed in the Long Course Mini Meet this past Sunday.  All found out where they are in there training and where to work to improve.  All of the Relays swum should make the top ten for 2005, based on 2004 times.  Results can be found at under the Competition tab, click on the Kentucky Masters Swimming link.

6-26-05  At the request of Robbie Allen, Lakeside Masters held the 5 K National Postal swim Sunday Morning.  Ten swimmers braved the event with Jerrod Kappler knocking two and a half minutes off the National Record, Robbie Allen posting a faster than last years time and Marty Bearden finishing among the top ten from last year.  Final results will not be published until October.

6-19-05 Lakeside Masters won the Visiting team division of the SwimLouisville.com Invitational meet this weekend.  Our first Long Course meet prove to be informative and helpful in finding out where we are in our training for this season.  Congratulations to all of the participants.   Results can be found at under the Competition tab, click on the Kentucky Masters Swimming link.

6-18-05 The National Senior Games were held in Pittsburgh this year.  Lakeside Masters had three participants.   Wendy Medley went to the awards stand five of her six events, Bill Tingley won one event, placed second in two events and finished third in two events.  Dorothy Riordan continues to dominate her age group, winning gold in two events and silver in one.   The National Senior Games will be held in Louisville in 2007.  Swimmers have to qualify at their State Games, in the events they wish to swim in the National Senior Games.  Kentucky 2006 Games are scheduled for September 2006.  All swimmers that will be 50 or older should keep these dates open to qualify in 2006.  Results of this years Senior Games are at http://www.teampittsburgh.com/Senior2005/index.htm

5-31-05  This years team picture will be taken at our Summer Season Kickoff Picnic at 11:00am on Sunday, June 5th.   Lakeside Masters and their families are invited to enjoy brats and hot dogs after the picture.  More info at Practice.

5-22-05 This years SC Nationals, in Ft Lauderdale, had some great efforts. Jennifer Kappler won the 1650, and had four thirds for the meet, Jerrod Kappler had four seconds and two thirds, Tito Salano finished with two silvers, two bronze and a fifth, while Bill Tingley could only muster a 10th in the 4 IM. 4-10-05 With this years Wildcat Invite scheduled during Spring Break, participation was at an all time low.  Wildcat had the lowest participation levels since the meet began.  They promise to move the meet off either Spring Break weekend in 2006.  Lakeside have five swimmers participate and all did well although everyone thought that they could do better with more of the team around them and more fire in practice leading up to the meet. 3-13-05 The SCY Mini Meet was held this morning and we did well considering that we have not hand much competitive practice this season.  Five of our seven relays that Lakeside Masters have participated in better Top Ten times from last year. Our Holiday party will be held at Mitch and Valinda Wagner's home Saturday, December 18th. Mark your calendar now.  Information has been mailed or you can get a copy from Mary at practice. Sign up for our annual gift exchange at practice. Drawings will begin December 6th.

7-15-04 The USMS Short Course Yards Top Ten Rankings are out.  Craig Pickering and Dorothy Riordan have been ranked number one and have earned All-Americans in their events.  We have a number of relay rankings and relay All-Americans, Craig Pickering, Dale Mercker, Robbie Allen, Jarrod Kappler.  The entire rankings may be found at http://www.usms.org/comp/tt/.

05-30-04    We have return to the Lake for practice.  Long Course season has started.  Check the practice times and fix your schedule to be as consistent as possible.  The Meet Schedule for this summer is now posted.  Be aware of the earlier dates of our meet and the Nationals.

12-04-03 The preliminary Heat Sheet for the 15th Lakeside Mile is now posted.  We can still have 10 swimmers late or deck enter.  The heat start times could change.  The final seeding for the mile will be posted at 7:45 am EST.   It is the swimmers responsibility to be at the blocks when their heat is called.   See you Sunday.

11-27-03 -Toys for Tots -Lakeside Masters will again collect toys for the US Marine Corps annual Toys for Tots drive during our Lakeside Mile meet. Milers, team members, and other interested members are encouraged to bring an "unwrapped" toy to place under our Christmas Tree found in the Bubble. Support this worthy cause!

8-3-03 27th Lakeside Masters Long Course Invitational Information

5-20-03 Cold Water Schedule  We are planning on returning to the Lake, starting this Sunday for practice, however because of the new construction of the piers, the filling of the Lake could not until late last week.  The water is below 70 degrees.  With the Lake that cold we will be practicing in the small pool this Sunday, at 8:00am and 9:30am.Since the membership will be using the small pool on Tuesday and Thursday, practice will be held at St Xavier on Tuesday and Thursday until the water reaches a safe temperature.  Morning practice will be held at the Lake in the small pool, at 5:50am, starting on Wednesday, May 28th.  We will have our holiday practice at 8:00am on Monday, May 26th, Memorial Day.  If the water does not warm by Sunday, June 1st, we will go to MTM that Sunday, because of a conflict in scheduling of the small pool.  All of these schedule changes could change.  Those changes will be announced at practice and posted on our website as so as they are made.

12/09/01 Eight Meet Records showcased the 12th Lakeside Mile.  Among the record breakers, Don Smith and Dale Mercker.  Great job.  Most of our swims were above average, congratulation on all the hard work on our strokes.  Full Results is on the Toolbar, under Competition-Meet results

12/06/01 The Lakeside Mile has the largest number of entries in the twelve year history of the event.  It is also the fastest field ever.  Because of both occurrences, we are able to add a seventh heat and keep with in the time allowed by our host facility, Lakeside Swim Club.  Here is the preliminary heat and lane assignments.   See you on Sunday.

12/17/00 The results of the Lakeside Relays are now posted.  Look under competition, on the dropdown bar, then under Meet results.
Congratulations to Jerrod Kappler of Crescent Hill, who led off the Men's 76+ 200 Free Relay, in a blistering time of 22.84, destroying the old USMS National Record for the Men's 19-24 50 meter Free, by more than a half a second. 
Many of the Relays in the meet, should be ranked in the 2000 SCM Top Ten.   Congratulations

12/7/00 Lakeside Mile Heat Sheet - The Lakeside Mile is this Sunday and we have not received the maximum 48 entries.  The heat sheet only reflects the Pre-entries and the timeline will change should we receive any deck entries, so plan accordingly.
