Lakeside Masters Coaches' Bios
Bill Tingley
Head coach Bill Tingley has been an integral teammate and coach of the Lakeside Masters Swim Team since 1981. With over 30 years of Masters coaching and expertise, Bill has watched the team grow and improve over the past 28 years. He, as well as several of his swimmers, hold Masters All-American and World Championship titles, and are continually ranked in the top ten in the country. In 1991, the team won the United States Masters Swimming Long Course Championship. Bill rounds off his coaching resume by serving on the Kentucky Local Masters Swim Committee. He has also spent 9 years serving on the board of Kentucky's Local Swim Committee for USA Swimming. He has received both of Masters Swimming's prestigious national awards of Coach of the Year in 1989, and the Ransom Arthur Award in 1998.
Bill's love of competitive swimming continued with his two sons, Michael and Christopher. Michael was a nationally-ranked collegiate swimmer at Michigan State University and Chris swam at the University of Missouri and University of Louisville. Bill has supported the swimming community by serving as a certified NCAA Swimming official and works with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, as a meet administrator and registered official.
Mary Graves
Mary Graves is Lakeside Swim Club's Assistant General Manager and Manager of Aquatic Operations. She also serves as the administrative coordinator and coach for the Masters team. Mary has coached Masters programs for over 20 years. She began at E.P. 'Tom" Sawyer State Park and came to Lakeside in 1983.
Swimming is an active part of Mary's life as well. Both Mary and her husband Michael swim with the Masters team. Their son Paul and daughter Laura swam on the Lakeside SeaHawks Swim Team and for the Western Kentucky University.
